Industrial waste characterization

Understanding what types and how much waste a project generates are critical to reducing and disposing of waste. We performed a site-wide solid waste characterization at an Arctic mine to reduce costs and identify reduction, reuse, and recycling opportunities.

Fugitive Dust Monitoring

The unique stair-step growth pattern of Hylocomium splendens, a moss, can be used to estimate when dust accumulated. Multi-Increment Samples were collected and analyzed for specific elements from road dust, to infer the effectiveness of dust control strategies.
